Nope.

As the fanfare surrounding the latest video of a blurry, light-encrusted, diamond- or horseshoe-shaped space craft pacing the International Space Station proves (video below, photos above), humans really really want to see UFOs. And anything enough humans want to see, some human will find evidence of and post it on the Internet.

After all, conspiracies, porn and convincing you that you have a terminal illness are why the Internet was born.

And it's all in fun, especially when the video feed from the ISS cuts off while some anomalous light smear is present. Those feeds cut off all the time, and you have to watch dozens of hours of them to see both a light (which we found also and present in a video below, photos above) AND have the video feed snap off.

But there out there, all you have to do is watch a lot of video ... but hey, called it binge watching for science.

And, science it is! Those folks have created a hypothesis about space aliens watching Earth and, thus, NASA covering it up. They observe the only space data they have access to — video and photos from the space agency itself — looking for anomalies (UFOs) and evidence that NASA is covering them up and then they report what they see. That's it: Pure objective science!

The latest video is just such science, but there's a particular problem that shows up in these videos, including the one we made from actual NASA footage: The light stays in perfect relative position to the station. (Suggesting to me it's an artifact in the camera or video data.)

Now, we can imagine a scenario in which a UFO — a space ship built by an Intelligent Space Species (ISS), sent across untold reaches of the void to hover over this blue oasis in the cosmos and do ... nothing ... just hover around, chat with NASA and occasionally suck up and then spit out a crazy human being (just for a little fun ... like some merry band of galactic or, hell, intergalactic pranksters) — would keep pace with the space station.

But we have to really work at it. We have to decide that the alien space craft is orbiting Earth at the exact same speed and in the exact same trajectory of the station. I can imagine it, but then I can imagine a lot of things.

Anyway, one day it might be true. One day aliens may show up. I just think that when that happens, the fact of it will quickly overwhelm the ability of our or any government to keep it hidden. It'd be like World War III breaking out but kept a secret.

Proof of an artifact in the camera or video data? :-s
