CONSPIRACY theorists are pouring over images of a 'time travelling' boxing fan, who appears to be filming a 1995 Mike Tyson fight on a smartphone - years before the first device was sold.
Tyson's bout with Peter McNeeley 21 years ago was notable for being Iron Mike's first fight since his release from prison, lasting only 89 seconds before McNeeley was stopped after being knocked down twice.
But the most remarkable moment of the match seems to have occurred outside of the ring, after fight footage reemerged online in which a spectator can be seen holding up a device that looks remarkably like a 21st century smartphone.
The clip, posted on YouTube by user JammyBantam, shows Tyson warming up for the fight with one fan sitting ringside capturing the scenes on an anachronistic-looking gadget.
The white coloured camera has the distinctive slim line design of a smartphone, with the camera lens in the top left corner - another innovation associated with modern day recording equipment.
At one point it even appears to flash red as a picture is taken - which some have taken as proof that the spectator was either from another time or another, other worldly place.

In the slowed-down clip, the YouTube user speculates that it could be an alien visitor taking in an earthly sporting event using advanced extra terrestrial technology.
The video commentary explains: "Someone in the crowd is seen taking a picture from what appears to a smart phone device, or a device way ahead of the 90's. Aliens!
"The camera behind Tyson has its lens in the top corner, like a smartphone."

The device bears similarities to modern day smartphones - including the camera in the top corner
The video then shows a montage of digital cameras that were on the market in 1995, none of which look anything like the one being used by the futuristic spectator.
The commentator asks: ”Is this a time traveller on holiday?”
However, sceptics have been quick to point out that one such camera, the Casio QV-100, was available at the time and bears a resemblance to the one being used in the clip.
The red flash was simply the arena lights bouncing off a silver sticker placed on the front of the device, they reasoned.
The first mobile to adopt the name 'smartphone' was the Ericsson R380, which was released in 2000.
It featured a black and white touchscreen as well as the now outdated 'flip' design.
