A Key West stripper tried to eat her shirt while being arrested Sunday morning for allegedly drunkenly fleeing police, according to a police report.
ZyZe McCausland was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, as well as a felony for fleeing or eluding police at high speed.
A police officer was standing outside a café at about 2 a.m. on Sunday when he saw McCausland driving south on White Street, where she almost struck another car on the road, police said.
The officer flagged her down, at which point McCausland could be heard saying “Oh fuck.” She then sped away, prompting a police chase, the police report said.
McCausland allegedly tried to elude the officer, but the chase led to a parking lot. She got out of the vehicle and tried to wake up a person in the front passenger seat, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated, according to the report.
When the passenger didn’t wake, McCausland allegedly tried to flee on foot, but the police officer caught her and handcuffed her. McCausland had an “overpowering” smell of alcohol and displayed several signs of intoxication, police said.
She did not comply with requests by the officer to partake in a field sobriety test or supply a specimen for a breathalyzer test, the report said.
The suspect had a fresh stamp on her arm from a bar in the area. She told the officer to call the bar several times because someone there would “order” the officer not to arrest her. She also told the officer “you’ll be sorry” and to “call my lawyer. I don’t understand,” the report said.
McCausland allegedly acted belligerent throughout much of her arrest, where she was screaming, yelling and being uncooperative with police.
At one point, the suspect allegedly asked for a second chance to provide a breath specimen for a test, at which point the officer took off her handcuffs. She then allegedly put “a large portion of her shirt into her mouth and began chewing at the fabric,” according to the report.
The arrest report states her age is 32, but online inmate records show she is 26 years old.
The document states McCausland works at an adult night club called the Scrub Club.
