Blake Lively turned heads on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in a sparkling, form-fitting Versace gown this week. But when she shared a front-and-back photo of that look on Instagram, she got a very different reaction.
That's because it was the quote that accompanied the pic had her followers doing a double take.

While some found the caption clever, many argued that it was racially insensitive.
Over the course of nearly 23,000 comments on Instagram (and plenty on Twitter, too), opinions were divided. Those who found the quote problematic explained that the song was meant to celebrate black women's bodies, and as one commenter put it, by posting the lone line out of context, she seemed to be saying she looked "glamorous from the front and black from behind."
But others defended the star, stating she was simply making a playful pop culture reference while pointing out her own ample assets.
