A man who was spotted rolling the dead body of his ‘topless’ wife through New York has been arrested.
Anthony Lopez, 31, was seen wheeling the woman’s body around Staten Island on Friday morning.
When he was questioned by a plain clothed officer, he abandoned the body outside a house and fled.
He has now been arrested and charged with murder and concealing a human corpse.
When emergency services arrived on scene they pronounced the woman dead.
The topless body was wrapped in a blanket on the metal dolly, according to CBS New York.
The 31-year-old’s picture was circulated widely by police and he was finally arrested in Manhattan thanks to a tip off and a brief foot chase.
Police say he had shaved his head to avoid getting caught.
Lopez reportedly has an extensive criminal history involving 52 previous arrests for drugs, grand larceny and criminal contempt, he said.
The woman, 26-year-old Aduba Obiamaka, believed to be his wife, had also reportedly been arrested 19 times and the couple had a tumultuous past.
A cause of death is yet to be determined and it is unclear if there were signs of trauma.
