Yes you heard it right, China is banning the actions of eating a banana seductively on livestreams as an ongoing effort to further oppress the media and the internet. It’s a new regulation that has just been put into effort that will be brought forth against anyone eating bananas live in any erotic manner.
The main effort of the new regulation is to control “inappropriate and erotic” web content. Having to eat a banana in a sexy many isn’t the only thing that was banned. Videos of people wearing stockings and suspenders were also considered “inappropriate and erotic” therefore prohibited as well according to the BBC.

According to Shanghaiist, there has been reports that working as a camgirl or a female livestreamer by eating bananas can be a lucrative gig. Those who have made themselves successful with a loyal fan base can easily make us to 100,000 yuan per month. To give you a rough estimate, that’s about $15,300 USD and about RM62,000 as well.
They aren’t just able to receive money from viewers but they can also seduce viewers into buying them “virtual gifts” like branded handbags, shoes and even chocolates at times. If so, they would take a cut from their sales with the streaming companies.
Now that banana eating is banned, I bet the Chinese market for cucumbers will be increasing in no time. How would the Government regulate and carry out this ban is still up for debate and has still left many to wonder. Only time will tell.
