A Florida man is in jail after allegedly running over a couple that was under a tent at the Redneck Mud Park in Punta Gorda on Saturday.
According to WFLA, 24-year-old Brandon James Edwards, of Palm Harbor, became angry after an ice chest fell off of a vehicle at Randal Jones’ campground and broke, sparking an argument between the two. Edward left the campsite and alleged made comments about getting his ATV and running over Jones’ campsite.
Trey Hill and his girlfriend Sabrina Tischner were inside a tent at the camp when they heard the sound of an ATV approaching. The ATV ran over the tent, with the couple inside, WFLA reports.
The pair were able to escape out of the mangled tent and make it outside, where Edwards was sitting on his ATV and told them “Oh, I did not know you were in there,” according to WFLA.
Police arrived to find the couple with tire markings on their bodies. Edwards was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
