Six people are dead and dozens more wounded in another violent weekend in Chicago. The first 22 were shot in less than ten hours from Friday night to Saturday morning, and several victims were juveniles as young as 14. This weekend also saw the 21st recorded shooting on an expressway in Chicago this year.

The weekend’s shootings are as follows:

FRIDAY

The first shooting of the weekend occurred in the Ashburn neighborhood at 6:40 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of S Trumbull when occupants in an unknown vehicle opened fire, police said. He sustained a gunshot wound to the lower left leg, according to police, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.
The first fatal shooting of the weekend happened on the Northwest Side, in Logan Square at 6:45 p.m., police said. A 20-year-old man later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Daniel Alcantana of the 900 block of N Harding Ave was with a 21-year-old man in the 2900 block of W Armitage when both were shot. Alcantana was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Two men were shot in the Far South Side Hegewisch neighborhood at 9:50 p.m., according to police. A group of men got into a verbal altercation in the 13300 block of S Torrence when one of the men opened fire, police said. The men, ages 40 and 44, both sustained gunshot wounds to the leg, according to police, and took themselves to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. They were listed in stable condition, according to police.
Two people were hospitalized after a shooting on the Stevenson Expressway Friday night, according to police. The Illinois State Police received calls of a shooter on northbound I-55 near Halsted around 9:43 p.m., but didn’t find anything. Two people later arrived at St. Anthony’s, according to the Chicago Police Department, with gunshot wounds sustained on the expressway. No information about the victims’ gender or age was available, police said, but one victim was treated and released, the other transferred to Stroger Hospital in stable condition. ISP later recovered three shell casings from the scene.
Around 10 p.m., a 35-year-old man was standing on the street in the 4700 block of N Virginia in Ravenswood when another man approached on foot and fired shots, according to police. He sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.
A 19-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk at 10 p.m. in the 300 block of E Kensington in the West Pullman neighborhood when a man in a gray sedan opened fire, striking the victim, police said. He arrived at Advocate Trinity Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left buttocks, according to police, and was listed in stable condition. Authorities said he was expected to be transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Around 11 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of W 72nd St in Englewood when she heard shots and felt pain, police said. She arrived at St Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with a gunshot wound to her left forearm, according to police, and was listed in stable condition.
A 49-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk at 11:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of W Erie in Austin when he heard shots and felt pain, authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with a graze wound to the chest, according to police.

SATURDAY

Just after midnight, a 21-year-old man was sitting with several other people on the front porch of a home in the 2000 block of W 71st St in West Englewood, police said. Someone in a passing gray sedan opened fire, striking the victim, according to police. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to left hip, authorities said.
A man and a woman were standing on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of W Potomac in Humboldt Park around 12:15 a.m. when they heard shots and felt pain, according to police. The 18-year-old woman was shot in the lower right leg and the 20-year-old man was shot in the left buttocks. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.
Around 1:30 a.m., a 27-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the first block of N Mason in Austin, according to police. He heard shots and felt pain, police said, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the lower back.
Just after 2 a.m., a 20-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of N Springfield in Humboldt Park, according to police. He heard shots and felt pain, police said, and sustained a gunshot wound to right leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, according to police.
Saturday’s first fatal shooting occurred in the 200 block of N Laramie in the West Side Austin neighborhood, according to police. Officers responded to a call of a person shot around 2:50 a.m., and arrived to find a 35-year-old man in an alley. He had a fatal gunshot wound to the back of the head, police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified.
At 2:54 a.m., a 31-year-old man was discovered in a van in the 12700 block of S Halsted in the West Pullman neighborhood, police said. He had a gunshot to the back, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, officials said. Authorities said he was not cooperating with investigators.
A 14-year-old boy was in an alley in the 700 block of W Marquette in Englewood at 3 a.m., police said, when he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition, according to police.
A man was fatally shot in the 900 block of W 96th St in the Washington Heights neighborhood at 3:15 a.m., authorities said. He was approached on the sidewalk by two men, according to police, who opened fire. The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body, police said, and was pronounced dead on the scene. He has not been identified.
At 3:55 a.m., a 34-year-old woman was driving in a car in the 6400 block of S Keeler in the West Lawn neighborhood, police said. A person in the vehicle driving behind her fired from the car in her direction, officials said, striking her in the shoulder and left hand. She took herself to Mount Sinai Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
A man later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as 32-year-old William Palmer was shot and killed outside his home in Englewood, according to police. He was sitting in a parked car in the 6300 block of S Honore when a male offender approached on foot and fired shots, police said. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. Officials said he was a documented gang member and a convicted felon.
Two teenagers were wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood at 3:45 p.m., police said. They were standing on the corner in the 1600 block of E 70th St when an unknown offender approached on foot and fired shots, according to police. An 18-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the left elbow, and a 17-year-old boy was taken in stable condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said.
A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Saturday around 6 p.m., according to police. The victim, later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Kori Sellers of the 7900 block of S Sangamon, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car in the 8600 block of S Ashland when the offender reached into the vehicle, across the driver, and opened fire. He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and right arm, and was taken in serious condition to St Bernard Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
At 11:25 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was sitting in the passenger seat of a car stopped at a red light in the 4700 block of S Ashland in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to police, when a man approached the car on foot and opened fire. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.

SUNDAY

Sunday’s first shooting was fatal, at 12:50 a.m. in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. A black man in his 20s was found sitting in a car in an alley in the 7600 block of S Drexel, police said. He had two gunshot wounds to the neck and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. His identity has not been released.
A 15-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting at the same time in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said. At 12:50 a.m., he was walking in the 4400 block of S Marshfield when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He was taken in stable condition to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to the left leg and back, authorities said.
A 25-year-old man was wounded in the a shooting at 2:05 a.m. in the South Side Douglas neighborhood, police said. He was driving northbound on the 3500 block of S Vincennes when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He arrived at Provident Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left arm, police said.
A 36-year-old man was shot multiple times while on a back porch in the Bridgeport neighborhood, police said. He was in the 600 block of W 28th St around 3 a.m. when shots rang out. He was taken to Stroger Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds in critical condition, police said.
A 27-year-old man was meeting someone he knew around 6 a.m. at a gas station in the Irving Park/Avondale area, according to police. The two got in an argument, and the offender pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the head, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
According to police, a woman, thought to be in her 30s, was sitting in a car in the 2500 block of S Francisco in Little Village at 9:44 p.m. when she heard shots and felt pain. She took herself to St. Anthony Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left arm, police said. Officials did not have any further information on her condition.
At 2:57 p.m., a 23-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Fuller Park neighborhood. He was in the 4400 block of S Wentworth, police said, when he sustained gunshot wounds to the left eye and right leg. He took himself to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, according to police, and no further narrative was available.
At 6:18 p.m., a 22-year-old man was near a parked vehicle in the 900 block of N Lamon in Austin when an unknown man approached and fired several shots before fleeing, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the left arm, according to police.

In each of these shootings, there are no suspects in custody and the investigations are ongoing, police said.
