BOSTON – Is there something lurking in the ocean near Antarctica?
One YouTube user suggests there might be. The person found a mysterious disturbance in the ocean waters near Deception Island, off the coast of Antarctica, while browsing Google Earth.
The mysterious shape bears some resemblance to old depictions of legendary sea monsters, which is something YouTube user 'wowforreeel' draws a comparison to.
While some on the internet think it is proof of the existence of the legendary "Kraken" – a giant squid or octopus that attacks whales and ships – others have suggested it might be a boat or a rock formation.

"No idea what this is but it's circulating a few places right now and when I saw it, it immediately made me think of a Plesiosaur fin," wrote user wowforreeel.
A plesiosaur was a marine reptile that lived during the Jurassic period, which ended 145 million years ago.
Deception Island is about 600 miles south of the southernmost point of South America. It falls under the Antarctic Treaty System and contains two scientific stations on it – one Argentinian, the other Spanish.
Meanwhile, there haven't been any definitive answers about the sea monster itself, but online speculation is rampant.
