WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -
A 19-year-old man allegedly shot at a Warren County sheriff's deputy and his father after a fight over hummus, according to the prosecutor's office.
Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui was indicted Tuesday in the June 9 shooting. He's charged with attempted aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of felonious assault, two counts of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, tampering with evidence and domestic violence, according to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.
Laghaoui shot and wounded Deputy Katie Barnes the second time she responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment at Orchard of Landen on June 9, sheriff's officials have said.
Fornshell says the call happened following the dispute about Laghaoui eating too much of his dad's hummus.
The initial call was for Laghaoui threatening to shoot and kill his father and brother, they said.
The deputy spoke to the two men 45 minutes, but left when they didn't cooperate or want to file charges, according to Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims. Apparently Laghaoui's relatives did not know he was armed.
But deputies were called back nearly an hour later - and that's when Laghaoui fired at her with an AK-47 assault rifle almost as soon as she arrived, the sheriff has said.
Laghaoui's father also was found shot in the hand.
A shot was fired at a neighbor's house with one of the bullets going into a child's bedroom, according to Fornshell.
Authorities are still searching for the AK-47 that was used in the incident.
Laghaoui faces up to 68 years in prison.
