COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A stick shift helped stop a carjacker.

A truck owner told police a man with a gun tried to steal his truck Wednesday night around 7 p.m. However, the gunman couldn't start the truck because it was a manual transmission.

"The suspect then fled on foot after realizing he did not know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle," Colorado Springs police said.

Officers called to the area said they found the suspect about a third of a mile away at the King Soopers shopping center near 19th and Uintah streets.

Officers said they had to use a Taser to subdue and arrest the suspect. Once in custody, officers said they found the man in possession of a loaded firearm.

Andrew Lazcano, 35, was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

I can't drive a stick shift either, mainly because I can't pop a clutch, so I never bothered to learn.

I can drive a manual, but I only by autos because I drive in stop and go traffic every single day back and forth to work. You shift 9038547693049857694856794385769348576 times a day and see how much you enjoy that manual transmission
