Forever 21 has come under fire for stocking 'inappropriate' T-shirts for young boys - bearing 'sexualized' slogans.

The three garments in question are emblazoned with the statements 'sorry ladies I only date models', 'chicks are all over me' and 'ladies man'.

Parenting author and psychologist Christia Spears Brown told Yahoo Style that the T-shirts both 'sexualize' children and 'reinforces a harmful stereotype', while customers hit out on Twitter.

The professor of psychology at University of Kentucky and author of Parenting Beyond Pink and Blue: How to Raise Your Kids Free of Gender Stereotypes, said: 'It is completely inappropriate for companies to sell those shirts to young boys. Even I am pretty shocked by those, and little shocks me these days.'

She added: 'It sexualizes children at an age when they should not be sexualized. It reinforces a harmful stereotype about boys that says their value and worth is dependent on how many girls or women they can "conquer."'

The clothing company today respond to the criticism by issuing an apology and claimed that it has removed the offending items from its website where they were on sale for $10.90 each.

A Forever 21 spokeswoman said in a statement: 'Forever 21 takes feedback and product concerns very seriously.

'With regards to the t-shirts in question, after receiving feedback we have taken immediate action to have them removed from our website.

'We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the products.'

Customer Ashlie Elizabeth, from Boston, shared her outrage on Twitter.

She wrote: 'EW to the @Forever21 little boys shirt that says "Sorry ladies, I only date models." SERIOUSLY EW. I've never stopped shopping faster.'

Asia Chow, who is from California and studying in New York, Tweeted: 'I just saw an 11 yo boy wearing a "sorry, ladies. I only date models" T-shirt God help us [sic].'

Another person added: 'These Forever 21 tees are creepy AF [sic].'

It comes after the clothing brand was forced to apologize earlier this year after a men's T-shirt was branded 'rapey'.

The shirt, which was printed with the words 'Don't Say Maybe If You Want To Say No', was removed from sale in March.
