oh fucks sake, this is yet another movie that was entirely self contained and no additional movies need to be made. first one was good, but another..... sounds like a shite idea to me, this is almost as bad as if they tried to make a spaceballs 2.

Actually, there were three books. The Trainspotting film was made from the first one (Trainspotting), and this film is made from the 2nd one (Porno), with some alterations (the book is set 10 years later, the movie is set 20). The third one was a later released prequel (Skagboys), and they obviously can't make that one with the current cast. All three books have the same characters.

So Trainspotting 2 is actually Porno, but I sincerely doubt anyone will go see a film called Porno without knowing it's relation to the Trainspotting film, so they named it Trainspotting 2 for marketing reasons.
