The supermarket Lidl is recalling its own brand of fruit yoghurt and honey peanuts because the packets fail to tell customers they contain milk and peanuts.

The German chain said the eight pack of Milbona Fruit Yoghurt and Alesto Honey Peanuts do not warn shoppers in English that they contain possible allergens.

Those allergic to milk or peanuts who have bought the items have been told to return them to their store to get a full refund.

‘Lidl UK is recalling Milbona Fruit Yoghurt, 8 x 125g, Use by Date 18.08.16 only, due to milk not being declared in English on a small number of items,’ the supermarket said.

‘Lidl UK is recalling Alesto Honey Peanuts, 200g, Best Before Date 02.2017 only, due to peanuts not being declared in English on a small number of packets.’

The Food Standards Agency said that Lidl’s failure to write in English that yoghurt contains milk or that peanuts contain peanuts ‘makes the product a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents.’
