CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — A school bus driver charged with rape pleaded guilty to the crime in Hamilton County Criminal Court on Thursday.

Alexander Rodriquez pleaded guilty to aggravated statutory rape, and was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison, which was suspended. He will have to undergo supervised sex offender probation for 10 years, and during that time will have to wear a GPS ankle monitor.

Back in March of 2015, a student was reported missing from Sale Creek High School, and was last seen getting into a bus reportedly driven by Alexander Rodriquez Wednesday afternoon.

A little after 10 p.m., the student returned home, and had a harrowing tale to tell investigators, according to an affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 9.

She told them she boarded the bus with Rodriquez driving, and that he drove the bus to where the buses are kept. She then told investigators she rode with him in his car to a motel. She said she and Rodriquez went into a room, and that he forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The affidavit says she told investigators she repeatedly said "no." But she says Rodriquez raped her anyway. While she was being raped, she told investigators that she said to Rodriquez that it hurt, and that Rodriquez replied, "I'm trying to make it hurt."

Later, she said Rodriquez got a phone call from Chattanooga police asking if he knew where she was. Soon after that, the affidavit says she told investigators Rodriquez dropped her off in Birchwood, and before leaving, told her to say she was with a friend. It took her about an hour to walk home.

"A parent wants to be able to be assured they have people who've had proper background checks, that do not have past felony records or any kind of record and they are the character and quality, know they would treat that child, you want the child handled," said Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond shortly after Rodriquez's arrest.

Rodriquez was contracted with Durham School Services, but later lost his job.
