Chinese university students have often converted their dreary dorm rooms into homey places to live. But it's going to take more than some curtains and wallpaper for these middle schoolers to freshen up their rooms.

A middle school in Tongren, Guizhou province accepted more students than they had beds for, Sohu reports. Fortunately, the boy's dormitories each had a communal bathroom on every floor as well as a private bathroom in each room. Seems a bit redundant? Well, the school must have thought so because they converted these public bathrooms to dorm rooms for the surplus students.

And by converting, we mean placing a bunk bed there and filling up the squat toilet with cement. How considerate, at least nobody will get their hands or feet stuck in them.

After pictures of these horrendous "dorms rooms" went viral, the school reached out to the media to clarify that these rooms are only temporary measures. The faculty dorms are currently being renovated and will be made available for the students to move in later on. However, students reported that the school told them that they are here to study, not to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, and they need to learn to overcome difficulties.

The Ministry of Education is looking into it and will hopefully resolve this shitty situation soon.

Netizens are sympathetic to the students and criticized the school:

"Haha, this space should be renovated to be the Principal's Office," @我的饭卡呢 wrote.

"Let the school officials try living there first," @听郎 wrote.

"Students aren't at school 'for comfort,' but they aren't there to be abused either," @喵了个喵-森蝶 wrote.
