After a few too many beers the night before, Colin Ross found himself stumbling bleary-eyed into his local chippy in search of a hangover cure.
But after devouring his fish and chips, and then learning that the restaurant was struggling, he took matters into his own hands.
In a bid to show some support for Whitbie’s Fish and Chips in Lethbridge, Canada and its 69-year-old owner John McMillan, Colin wrote a review on his Facebook page.
He had hoped that a few of his friends would be inspired to help John out – but never thought his post would go viral, racking up more than 8,000 shares.
It has single-handedly rejuvenated business at the struggling chippy, with people coming from far and wide and queueing out of the door just for a fish and chips.

Writing on Facebook after the original post, Colin thanked everyone for their support and said the success story has made him ‘cry with happiness’.
John told CBC that business had been ‘absolutely terrible’ up until Colin’s visit.
But when the pair got chatting and Colin realised how desperate the situation was, he decided to take action.
John said: ‘Our business has just gone right through the roof to the point where, you know, we’ve got people waiting an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters for their dinner.’
He has had to recruit family and friends to keep up with the suddenly huge demand for his magical hangover-curing fish and chips.
