DEVELOPING: A female shooter shot a student at a Texas high school and then killed herself on Thursday morning, Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson said on Alpine radio.
Five shots were fired during the incident at Alpine High School, leading to the lockdown of all district schools. A woman who answered the phone at the Alpine Independent School District described the situation as "contained.
Neither the shooter or the victim were immediately identified. The Associated Press reported a local hospital had three "victims" from the incident, but it wasn't immediately clear how the victims were injured or who they were.
The hospital said it would provide a statement later Thursday.
Brewster County is in southwestern Texas near the Mexican border.
Alpine is a small public high school. It reported 277 students were enrolled at the school last year.
