CENTURY CITY, CA — A new high-rise on the border of Century City and Beverly Hills is bringing luxury apartment living to Los Angeles called Ten Thousand, and you'll need nearly that much a month just to live there.

The 40-story, 283-unit building is scheduled to open in January. Rent starts at $8,500 and can go as high as $25,000 a month. That's about the mortgage price for a $2 million to $3 million home in Los Angeles, but the developer, Crescent Heights, is hoping that high-end living with high-rise views will catch on here.

According to a study by the real-estate website Zillow, about a quarter of Angelenos rent event though they make enough to buy a home in the area.

What will you get for that a $10,000 apartment? Residents will have access to the building's boardrooms for meetings, a full bar with a staff to walk the dog or pick up groceries. Other amenities include access to the Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Cadillac Escalade, should you feel the need to venture outside the ivory tower. Also included are a team of butlers as well as a wellness studio complete with a doctor for Botox injections.

Ten Thousand already has 2,000 "interested" people signed up on its list.
