PITTSFIELD — A Manchester man was arrested Wednesday for driving 146 mph on Interstate 95 near Pittsfield, Maine State Police said.

Tyler Barrows, 18, was charged with criminal speeding, a Class E misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine up to $1,000, as well as failure to provide proof of insurance and proof of inspection.

Barrows was traveling north in a blue Dodge Neon and was clocked at 146 mph in a 70 mph zone, state police said in a post on Instagram.

Police said Lt. Bruce Scott, who leads the agency’s Traffic Safety Division, received a call about someone speeding north from mile marker 135. At 70 mph, the car normally would have reached Scott, who was at mile marker 150, in about 12 minutes, police said. But the Dodge Neon sped past Scott in about half that time going 146 mph, according to Scott’s radar.

He had never clocked someone going that fast, police said.

She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself.
