Christians panic, claim Hurricane Matthew is punishment from God for the sin of sodomy.

More than a million Americans have been ordered to evacuate as Florida and South Carolina brace for Hurricane Mathew.

According to reports both South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Rick Scott have announced plans for massive evacuations.

In addition, President Obama warned residents of Florida and South Carolina to “prepare for the worst” while speaking to reporters Wednesday. Obama said:

This is a serious storm. If you get an evacuation order, just remember that you can always rebuild, you can always repair property. You cannot restore life if it is lost.

However, while government officials are making sensible plans for evacuation, Christian extremists are blaming the gays for the approaching hurricane.

For example, one anti-gay Christian extremist declares:

Hurricane Matthew Is The Wrath Of God Poured Out On The Cities Of Orlando And Savannah For Supporting The Evil Sodomites.

Andrew Bieszad, a contributor to Shoebat.com, a popular anti-gay, Christian extremist website, explains that God is sending the hurricane as “a sign of His anger” against America for tolerating homosexuality.

Bieszad notes:

The Bible clearly teaches that in the Old Testament whenever the Hebrews were very disobedient towards God, He would send punishments against them, many times in the forms of natural disasters. Christian history also recognizes the same, where God will use His creation to execute judgment against the wicked. While not all bad weather is necessarily a sign of sin, both sacred scripture and sacred tradition clearly note that it can be so. Now we know that Florida is an area that is infected with sin, especially cities such as Miami and Orlando, which are veritable dens of sodomy.

And while Bieszad and others are blaming the gays for Hurricane Mathew, other Christian extremists blame abortion and Hillary Clinton for the storm. For example:

And of course, Twitter is full of speculations concerning God’s hand directing Hurricane Matthew:

Fueling the Christian panic is a satellite image of the storm which appears to depict an ominous skull. The sinister image of Hurricane Matthew, resembling a human skull, has lit up the Internet. The creepy satellite photo was posted Tuesday by Weather Channel senior meteorologist Stu Ostro as the hurricane made landfall in Haiti.

For the record, the fact that many people claim to see an image of a demonic human skull in the satellite image is an example of pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists.

Hurricane Matthew is expected to make landfall Thursday night. God was not available for comment.

Yeah, seriously. If God was punishing us for junk like this, He would have unleashed on California a long time ago.
