Two people were killed and two other Oklahoma police officers were wounded in a shooting Sunday night and a manhunt was underway for the gunman.

Authorities in Lincoln County were searching for Michael Vance. Police said the two deceased victims were relatives of Vance. One Wellston police officer was shot in the foot and the other was wounded in both legs. Both injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, according to KOCO-TV.

The Lincoln County Sheriff said authorities were called to a report of shots fired. When officers arrived at the scene, Vance came out with an AK-47 and started firing. Vance was struck twice by the officers were before he fled the scene.

Authorities said Vance and another man stole a police car and drove to a nearby mobile park. Vance’s accomplice was taken into custody. Vance carjacked a woman, shot her and drove off. The woman was injured but she was not taken to the hospital.

Police were looking for a 2007 silver Mitsubishi with a blue roof.

Vance had been released from the Lincoln County Jail recently. He was held on child sexual assault allegations.

A massive manhunt for a suspect in a string of violent crimes, including the killing of two relatives, the shooting of two police officers and multiple carjackings, ended Sunday night in a police chase and shootout that left the man dead in Oklahoma.

Michael Dale Vance, Jr., 38, was shot and killed by an Oklahoma state trooper near Leedey in the western part of the state, authorities said. Vance had shot and wounded a Dewey County officer and fled in a car earlier in the day, according to U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Dave Turk said.

Authorities said the Dewey officer suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to The Oklahoman. Police believe he was living in a makeshift camp site he had set up near Hammon.

Officers pursued Vance for about half an hour when he was approached by an Oklahoma state trooper.

"There was an exchange of gunfire between the state trooper and the subject, and the subject was killed," Turk said.

Vance was wanted on multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder. A search for Vance began after he shot and wounded two police officers on Oct. 23 in Wellston, 35 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, authorities said.

Vance, 38, was suspected of shooting a woman and stealing her vehicle at a mobile home park near Wellston, then driving about 8 miles to his relatives' mobile home in Luther and killing them.

Ronald Everett Wilkson, 55, had been shot and had stab wounds to his neck "consistent with an attempt to sever his head," an arrest affidavit said. Valerie Kay Wilkson, 54, had similar neck wounds along with defensive wounds on her arms, the affidavit stated.

Authorities also believe Vance filmed two Facebook Live videos documenting his run from police before going to the Wilksons' mobile home.
