CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- Authorities safely detonated 2 devices found inside a home on Monday night, according to police. This comes after officers found a small collection of chemicals in a home in the Plum Creek neighborhood of Castle Rock Monday morning. Around 30 homes were evacuated.

Officials say the Douglas County bomb squad and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found the two devices in the home. Officials detonated both in a sand trap at Plum Creek Golf Course, as a safety precaution.

Police found the chemicals at a home in the Plum Creek neighborhood. They were led to the home after the arrest of two juveniles on Sunday night.

Police say that one of the teens had "extensive knowledge" and some of the devices used were illegal. Officials say the devices were never completed.

"I have never seen this level of sophistication from a juvenile," police said.

Police went to the home in the 400 block of Prestwick Way to tell the parents of their child's arrest. While there, police found the small box of chemicals and called in hazardous materials crews.

Officers went to the area on Sunday night after neighbors reported suspicious behavior from two juveniles. Both are in custody on unknown charges unrelated to the chemical investigation.

Because they are younger than 18 years old, their names, ages and pending charges were not released. Police have not said if the juveniles are boys or girls.

Police initially said it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.

However, at about 2:20 p.m., officers told FOX31 Denver they were evacuating the whole neighborhood. It wasn't clear how many residents were impacted, but all of Prestwick Way was being closed off, according to reporter Julie Hayden.

An evacuation center for residents has been set up at the Douglas County fairgrounds located at 500 Fairgrounds Drive.
