A Steuben County man was arrested at the Livingston County Jail on Sunday on an aggravated drunken-driving charge.
About 6 p.m., an apparently intoxicated man was reported in the jail's lobby. Rex Crooks, 52, of Bath told deputies that he had come to the jail to pick up a family member who is serving weekends at the jail. However, that man was due out at 6 a.m. Monday, not 6 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
A Breathalyzer test found that Crooks, who allegedly drove to the jail, had a blood alcohol content of 0.31, more than four times the legal limit. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, which requires a BAC of at least 0.18 percent. He also received a parking citation.
Crooks was arraigned in Geneseo Village Court; bail was set at $1,000 cash or $2,500 bond.
On Oct. 2, Crooks was stopped on suspicion of speeding at 7 a.m., while taking his son to the work release program at the Livingston County Jail, the news release said. A Breathalyzer test found his BAC was 0.19 percent. Deputies did not give information about any charges in connection with the traffic stop.
