The mayor of London risked sparking another rift with the billionaire tycoon when he reassured anti-Trump voters “London is open”.
Thousands of furious demonstrators have taken to the streets of America to protest against Donald Trump’s shock election victory last Tuesday.
Labour mayor, Mr Khan said: “Millions of people, I’m told, used Google’s search engine post the election on Tuesday - we know millions use it every single day.
“I heard one of the most googled things since Wednesday has been how do you emigrate?
“If talented people based in the US want to come here to London, my message is simple: London is open.”
And in an apparent poke to Canada’s immigration website, which reportedly crashed as results starting flooding in on election day morning, he added: “And our website’s not going to crash”.
This is not the first time Mr Khan has risked upsetting the President-elect.
The mayor laid into Mr Trump’s controversial plans to ban Muslims from the US as “ignorant”.
