Judge Mark Horton sent him to two years and ten months youth custody.
The judge told him: "You were quite obviously in the top end of the starting point for a significant role."
Sam Jones, prosecuting, said police were acting on a tip-off when they raided a one-bedroom flat, which contained several men.
He told the court: "This defendant was in the bedroom, jumping on a bed, trying to conceal items in his anus."
Mr Jones said Ali was arrested and taken to hospital, where he was allowed to use a toilet and was found to discard a cigarette pack down the pan.
The pack was retrieved and police found 46 wraps of drugs - 32 of 46 per cent pure heroin and 14 of 76 per cent pure cocaine.
The street value of the haul was estimated at just under £500 and police also seized a small amount of cannabis and £150 cash.
Mark Linehan, defending, said his client was a father-to-be and wanted to change his life and be a good parent.
