A new list of top baby names in the UK has revealed that ‘Mohammed’ has been knocked off the top spot – by ‘Oliver’ – and some children have been blessed with very unusual names indeed.

Cinema sci fi and superhero films have has clearly gone to parents’ heads – with some unfortunate children being called Kylo, Harley (from ‘Harley Quinn’ in suicide squad) and Leia this year.

Just imagine being called ‘Kylo’ in ten years time.

We still seem to be influenced by celebrities’ bizarre name choices – with lots of British families following Jamie Oliver and calling their children River.

Other families have even aped Wayne Rooney and called their children Kai.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are turning to nature-based names – with names like Lily, Poppy, Daisy and Holly shooting up the charts, according to BabyCentre.
