Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo has been criticized by woke social justice warriors after using black emojis on Twitter, with some users accusing her of overstepping her bounds as “a privileged white woman”.
It all started after the actress praised the A&E network for changing the title of its documentary about the Ku Klux Klan from “Generation KKK” to “Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America.” Pompeo thanked the network for “caring enough to make changes” adding black clapping and thumbs-up emojis.

Rather than appreciating Pompeo’s reaction to the decision, a number of Twitter users took offense to her usage of black emojis. One user, who has since set her account private, wrote: “It’s not fair to see a privileged white woman use [people of color] emojis just because you can.”
“It comes off as really obnoxious,” she added.
The actress replied saying “Don’t be a hater I do it because racism is not just a black problem it is all of our problem get it???” In another tweet, she wrote: What’s crazy is how angry everyone is… this is all about emojis people”.

This sparked further tweets directed at the actress accusing her of racism. After she said that it’s “sad to see racism is still alive and well on all sides,” people attacked her suggesting reverse-racism is real. One person wrote: “reverse racism isn’t real. White people don’t experience racism”.
To which Pompeo replied saying “I’ve been called a white B**** and countless other things 50000 times today what would you call it?”
Despite this, the people continued ganging up on the actress, saying “you literally said reverse racism exist JUST APOLOGIZE AND LOG OFF stop embarrassing and contradicting yourself”.

Another person wrote to her “SHUT UP, WHITE LADY”, prompting the actress to remind that her husband Chris Ivery is black and she’s the mother to two biracial daughters. Despite her standing her ground, the accusations of racism continued.
Eventually Pompeo decided to apologize for causing offense, writing “I’m so sad that people attacked me over standing up for equality I’m sad that people chose anger and I’m sorry if I offended anyone”.
