A fisherman in Brazil is very lucky to be alive after a fishing trip went horribly wrong and he took a harpoon to the head.
27-year-old Hugo Pereira da Silva was out fishing with a friend at the Rio Paranaiba dam in Araguari when the 3 foot spear pierced his face.
The spear was just inches away from causing more serious injuries, even death.
Araguari fire department Deputy Lt. Lucenildo Batista Alves said:
“Unfortunately, they were not careful with the positioning, the distance. And the waters of the river in our region are murky, especially in the very dirty rainy season.”
Authorities are now investigating the fishing trip because it's illegal to use harpoons from November through January.
The harpoon-headed fisherman was treated, and he has been released from the hospital.
