Lucy Hale, an actress from the TV series Pretty Little Liars, is wearing a hairstyle popular among Latina women—and in the year 2017, that’s not OK.

The actress, who’s built up a following of over 6 million fans on social media, tweeted out a picture this Monday with the caption: “The time my baby hairs came to good use at a shoot.”

Naturally, this innocuous statement was met with outrage from social justice Twitter, with people quick to lecture her about microaggressions and her sin of culturally appropriating a hairstyle. Users were angered over her use of the term “baby hair,” demanding she look up its colloquial meaning on Urban Dictionary.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/lucyhale">@lucyhale</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/Kristin_Ess">@Kristin_Ess</a> those &quot;baby hairs&quot; have 2 kids and a mortgage <a href="https://t.co/kXoflgKJRv">pic.twitter.com/kXoflgKJRv</a></p>&mdash; Illusion of Bliss (@keysusfacts) <a href="https://twitter.com/keysusfacts/status/823690162714607616">January 24, 2017</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Under a barrage of reprimands and scolding, Hale deleted her tweet and issued an apology.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Sorry guys--I would never mean to offend anyone. Honestly, my bad. I wasn't thinking. ❤</p>&mdash; Lucy Hale (@lucyhale) <a href="https://twitter.com/lucyhale/status/823699570966163456">January 24, 2017</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
While many of her fans told her it was completely unnecessary to apologize, and that some people were simply hypersensitive, a few responders said things like: “Don’t let it happen again” and “the white people in this thread are cringe.” Pathetic.

So what are baby hairs, exactly? They’re the fine, wispy hairs on your hairline that can be difficult to style, and require the use of gel or wax to deal with. Black and Latin-American women sometimes style this part of their hair for a slicked=down look.

The feminist rag Bustle declared that it was “cultural appropriation” for a white woman like Hale to do her hair up this way, as she’s neither Latin-American nor black. In the progressive mindset, cultures must be bottled and segregated. If we should ever see a return of water fountains segregated by race or gender, the proposal will come from the far left.

“Copying that style is cultural appropriation and Twitter’s reaction to Hale’s post was swift and strong—followers immediately called her out for the problematic nature of the style,” they wrote. “Although I’m glad Hale removed the tweet and apologized, let’s hope she learned from this experience.”

There are clearly no bigger things to worry about in the world than a white girl having agency over how she styles her hair. What good is feminism if doesn’t tell young women about what they can or can’t do?

Considering the alternative? Fight back is always always always met with escalation because they are "enlightened" and therefore cannot be incorrect.

Although i concede that taking the easy way out emboldens the idiots.

You're right. You cannot reason with unreasonable people.

My issue is, if anyone were to accuse and chastise a black or Latina woman of having a "white" hair style, then they are racist.

Moral of the story: if you are white, then you are racist
