Spanish police officers are refusing to patrol the island of Ibiza claiming they are not paid enough to deal with the hordes of rowdy, sex-mad British tourists.
The lack of officers has become so bad that Spain’s Interior Minister, Jose Manuel Ignacio Zoido, has called it a ‘priority problem.’
Last year, a record number of 7.1 million tourists descended onto the white island, just off the east coast of Spain.
But official figures show the number of police stationed in Ibiza is 241 – that’s nearly 50 less than ten years before, reports The Times.
Since then the population has risen from 100,000 to 150,000.

Officers are paid between €1,600 to €1,700 (£1,362 to £1,447) a month, which is not enough to cover pricey flat rentals on the island, which cost around €1,600 in the winter.
‘It is not worth anyone coming here because they have to spend all their wage on accommodation,’ said Jose Manuel Mariscal de Gante, head of the local police force.
Last summer, 76 Brits were arrested on the island, 594 were granted emergency travel documents (for losing items like passports), and 258 needed other assistance by the British Consul, officials told the newspaper.
There has also been a rise in people coming to Ibiza in the wake of attacks in Turkey and Tunisia.
