Fry-ups are nothing if not a national treasure.

All that bacon. All that sausage. All that grease.

We’re obsessed with them – what other country would have a Facebook page called Fry Up Police (with over 46,000 members) dedicated to rating big breakfasts?

But one cafe in Somerset is taking obsession with fry-ups to the next level.

The Treats Cafe in Weston-super-Mare is offering a gut-busting breakfast that fills a 2ft-wide silver platter. And diners are understandably struggling to finish it.

Altogether, the breakfast contains 43 portions of different fry-up favourites – totaling a massive 4,000 calories.

That’s twice the daily recommended allowance for women and about 1,500 more than that average guy needs. Basically, this breakfast is gigantic.

As such, it’s amazing value at just £13.95. And if you manage to eat it all within an hour, it’s free.

Sound easy?

Well, only one person out of 60 has managed to complete the challenge in the past four months.

James ‘Terminator’ Cox took just 36 minutes and 21 seconds to polish off the mammoth meal back in November.

Despite James’ success, manager Ricky Bodalia, 28, says that generally, women have been more successful.

‘The girls seem to have more willpower. 60% of them have done better than the boys.’

He says that they started the breakfast challenge to their menu as a bit of ‘good fun’.

‘When someone does the challenge, the whole cafe turns to watch them.’

I would try an english breakfast, but I have no desire for that much food in a sitting.

Its the blood pudding and beans that puts me off at first... Then whole tomato slices and "tinned tomatoes".. It just seems too much like a lunch for my tastes..

Oh and "bubbles and squeak" ? What the actual fuck is that?

I wouldn't have it for breakfast, but it makes a good lunchtime meal.... and black pudding is essential and tastes so much better than you expect
