A MORMON ghost hunter claims he captured this Michael Myers-lookalike spirit in a graveyard and believes it may have appeared in anger over proposals to extend the nearby tram transport system.

Father-of-one Benny Coleman had visited Southport General Cemetery in Queensland, Australia, last week along with a friend whose brother was buried there.

The 24-year-old labourer hoped to prove to his friend and fellow Mormons the existence of the paranormal when his friend "saw something" so Mr Coleman began snapping away with his camera.

The duo were left terrified when they realised they had captured a face floating eerily over the gravestones - and fled the cemetery in fear.

He believes the ghost may have been angered by proposals to extend the Gold Coast Light Rail system, which runs by the cemetery and worried it would mean graves would be disturbed - though this has been ruled out by developers.

However Mr Coleman has now plucked up the courage to return to spooky spot in a bid to recapture the Michael Myers-doppelganger again to prove to the rest of his congregation that ghosts exist.

Mr Coleman, from Southport, Australia said: "It was a very active night. I felt I needed to leave as I felt really scared and I have never felt like that before. It felt like we shouldn't be there.

"I don't know what it could be but I'm going back with my mother in law to prove where I was standing but I am a bit nervous about going back. But I want to.

"There's a tram there nearby and I heard they might have to move some parts of the cemetery and dig up some of the bodies to make room. That would make the spirits unhappy.

"I thought they could be angered about that and more active.

"When people started saying it looked like Michael Myers I had to look him up because I don't like horror movies at all so I didn't know who he was.

Mr Coleman caught the image around 10.30pm on Saturday January 28 and explains his friend had spotted "something" in the graveyard moments earlier.

He said: "We had gone there to try out some spirit boxes [a device used by ghost hunters that utilises radio frequencies].

"My friend said he was seeing something but I couldn't see it so I started taking lots of pictures just to see if I would capture anything.

"I must have taken about 50. As I started to go through them, they were all normal and then this face just appeared in one of them.

"I think it's a face. I can see the eyes, nose and neck and everything. I don't recognise the face."

A spokesperson for GoldlinQ, who maintain the light rail system on behalf of the Queensland Government, pointed out that the extension is 3km away from the graveyard.

A spokesperson said: "Stage 2 of the Gold Coast light rail uses existing transport corridors and is located several kilometres from the Southport General Cemetery.

"No graves will be disturbed during construction."
