LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — Two residents were hospitalized after a fire broke out on the second floor of the three-story Parson's Place apartments at 7th and Stewart around 6 a.m. on Friday morning.

Fire officials say that the two hospitalized residents were cleaning jewelry with gasoline while smoking, which caused the fire.

Firefighters evacuated residents from the building, firefighters say was filled with black smoke.

The two burn victims were sent to UMC, and four were treated for smoke inhalation on the scene. The extent of the injuries is currently unknown.

Fire crews attacked the fire and successfully reduced the heat and flames soon after the fire broke out, clearing out much of the smoke.

Red cross is working on assisting the 51 people were displaced by the fire. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.
