A pub in County Durham has created a monster.

The George Pub and Grill is selling a steak dinner that weighs more than a newborn child.

With seven items on its ‘challenge’ menu, including the UK’s largest mixed grill and a kebab sandwiched between two chicken parmos, the George could well be the meatiest place in Europe.

But now, it has gone one step further and unleashed the UK’s biggest steak, measuring two feet long and weighing a staggering 220oz.

With a width of two inches, the meaty behemoth is thicker than many mouths are wide.

Fortunately, you don’t have to eat it all by yourself. Pub owner Craig Harker has set the challenge for four diners to eat the mammoth six kilo rump in 45 minutes.

The Holy Cow 220oz Steak Sharer costs £124.95, and requires 24 notice so Craig can get the meat from the butchers.

Harker said the piece of beef, which is so big it has to be served on a metal tray, takes two and a half hours to cook to medium rare before it is served with with chips, onion rings and coleslaw ‘to help it go down.’

Successful diners who complete the challenge will win a certificate, a Facebook legend alert and a George Pub & Grill champions’ hoodie.

On the other hand, no one goes home empty. Harker said that losers will win a free ride to hospital once cardiac arrest sets in.

‘We find that a lot of people are in a food coma when completing a challenge so we also offer a service that we will take you to A&E free of charge if needed.’

Zaiga Brive and three of her friends were among the first to try the dish in Stockton-on-Tees

She said: ‘I knew when it came there was no chance I would get through a quarter of the giant steak…It took six of us to eat it.’

13.75 lbs of steak

They're letting groups of 4 to try and polish that thing off, you'd each need to eat almost 3-1/2 lbs of steak each, plus a portion of the sides FF  Biggest steak I've ever eaten myself is a 24 oz and that was with the bone in it, not boneless like this thing looks.
