A 16-year-old boy told police he shot a 14-year-old girl in the head because he was annoyed she kept messaging him on Snapchat.

Two boys are accused of attempted murder, aggravated robbery and obstructing justice for attacking Deserae Turner and leaving her for dead on February 16, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Turner considered the unnamed boys, both 16, her friends.

The teenager was left in utter disbelief when she woke up in the hospital to learn they had shot her in the head and left her in a dirty canal in Smithfield, Utah.

Cache County Sheriff Deputy Brian Groves said in court Tuesday one of the boys complained to the other defendant about Turner texting and Snapchatting him too frequently.

The defendant responded: 'It would be pretty easy to get rid of her.'

After the premeditated shooting, the boys stole her backpack with her cellphone and iPod.

Deserae Turner has to be put in a medically induced coma after she was shot in the head

Turner told her friends over text message that she was getting 'picked on' by the two boys. They invited Turner to meet her at the canal to sell her a knife.

The shooter originally intended to slit Turner's throat and let her bleed out in the rural area. However, the boys decided it would be quieter to just shoot her.

One of the boys took a bullet casing from the scene as a memento of the crime.

When the shooter was speaking about the murder plot to the other defendant, he callously said over text: 'Let's get this done, bro.'

The bullet remains lodged in Turner's skull.

Turner was found by two women who were searching for her body.

Reports that she was missing started spreading on social media the evening she was shot.

When she was found her had to be put in a medically induced coma at a Salt Lake City hospital.

A hearing is set for May 8 which will determine if the 16-year-olds will be tried as adults or children.
