An art teacher has been charged after having sex and getting stoned with a pupil half her age.
Valerie Valvo (pictured), aged 34, has also been suspended from Central High School, Brooksville, Florida over her relationship with the 17-year-old boy.
His identity is not known, but he reportedly told police he had sex with Miss Valvo on at least three occasions at her house in the Spring Hill area.
When detectives quizzed Miss Valvo, she apparently claimed they had enjoyed at least five or six trysts.
The lovers also admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol together when they met for their secret sessions.
Miss Valvo has been charged with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one of contributing to his delinquency.
Both the teacher and the boy have told police their relationship was consensual.
An anonymous tip sparked inquiries into the pair’s activities by Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s spokesman Denise Moloney said: “She did admit that she was having a sexual relationship with the pupil. The pupil is 17-years-old. He’s not old enough to consent to a relationship like that.”
Valvo was released from Hernando County Detention Center after posting $15,500 bail.
An education spokesman confirmed that Miss Valvo has worked for the Hernando County School for three years. Although suspended, she apparently remains on the school’s payroll while the investigation continues.
