DEVELOPING – A Dallas paramedic was shot Monday morning and police were hunting a suspect amid an “active shooter” scenario.
First responders received reports about a possibly suicidal man around 11:30 a.m. local time and, when, officials got to the scene, they spotted a man with a rifle who opened fire on authorities, FOX4 reported.
A statement from the City of Dallas said "a Dallas-Fire Rescue EMT unit was struck and an EMT Paramedic was injured." The paramedic, who was identified as a firefighter in initial reports was undergoing surgery. Authorities considered the shooting area an "active scene."

The paramedic's condition wasn't immediately known.
Police were surrounding a home across from the Dallas-Fire Rescue academy, WFAA reported.
Area residents were asked to take cover.
