Orange City police said they found a carjacking suspect Monday afternoon inside a Walmart wearing only a bra and underwear, but she did not go to jail quietly.
The same suspect, who stole the Mitsubishi from Seminole County, rammed the vehicle into a pole near the entrance of the store and ran inside, police said.
Sharnett Burton, 30, of Holly Hill, was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with damage and one count of resisting arrest without violence. Jail records show she faces charges in Seminole for carjacking and grand theft.
She was being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail and her bail was set at $18,500.
Police arrived shortly before 5:30 p.m. and two officers originally tried to escort Burton out of the store, but she kept trying to pull away and flee, according to an arrest report.
It took several police officers, as well as some Orange City firefighters, to place Burton inside the police vehicle, authorities said.
The report also stated that Burton had earlier struck two vehicles at the intersection of Saxon Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway, causing $7,000 in damage.
The victim of the Seminole carjacking positively identified Burton as the suspect, police said.
