SALEM, Ore. - A 26-year-old Stayton man faces accusations he attacked a co-worker at a tree company from behind and tried to push him head-first into the wood chipper, Keizer Police said.

Police arrested Scott Iverson on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault in the Fourth Degree.

The attack allegedly took place around 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at a job site in Keizer, police said.

The 22-year-old victim told police "he was standing behind the running wood chipper loading brush into it when Scott Iverson grabbed him from behind and put him into a 'choke hold' while pushing his upper torso over and onto the feeding table of the wood chipper head first," according to a police report. "The victim said a struggle between he and Scott Iverson ensued during which time Scott Iverson assaulted him and made a second attempt to push him head first into the running wood chipper, but another employee saw what was happening at which time he intervened and pulled Scott Iverson off the victim."

The suspect then walked away on foot, according to the police report.

The victim told police he was unaware of any issue between himself and Iverson, according to the report.

Officers located Iverson on Friday at a restaurant and lounge in Stayton. He was arrested and booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
