NOGALES, Ariz. (CBS12) — A woman from Arizona is accused of trying to sneak $45,000 worth of heroin into the U.S., in her pants.
According to the U.S. Custom and Border Protection, officers at a crossing in Nogales, Arizona, stopped the woman who had about 3 pounds of heroin strapped to her backside, hidden by her jeans.
It was one of several drug stops at that location on Tuesday.
Officers arrested a man who tried to smuggle 68 pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin worth almost a half-million dollars, according to CBP.
An American woman from Peoria, Arizona, went to jail after authorities said she tried to sneak 22 pounds of meth into the U.S. from Mexico. The drugs, worth $65,000, were found hidden in the rear panels of her Ford SUV. And a narcotics detection canine found more than 10 pounds of heroin in a 26-year-old woman's car. She was on her way home to Arizona from Mexico, the CBP reported.
