Agreed, it most certainly would.

Would you rather be buried alive or burned alive :-k

:wha:

I imagine being burned alive would suck even worse... depending. I suppose sudden immolation, like being reduced to ash instantaneously at the center of a nuclear detonation would probably be a blessing. But being covered in gasoline and lit by a match, a la ISIS killing that Jordanian pilot, would be torture.

I suppose the question would be what would be more painful and how long would that pain last? Is suffocating in a finite enclosed space painful? I'm sure the knowledge and emotions involved would be pure torture, but how much physical pain would one suffer?

Definitely buried alive. It would be A LOT less painful (I would assume) than being burned alive and if you could resign yourself to your fate of being buried alive and keep yourself (relatively) calm, I think it would be a much more 'peaceful' way to go.

this

There's a site that describes medically what happens to your body during various types of death. Everything from asphyxiation to death in outer space.

I recall burning is possibly one of the least pleasant methods and the human body lives longer than one would think when exposed in space. It's not quite the instant eye bulging, head popping vision from Total Recall.

I want to go out like my grandfather, nice and peaceful in my sleep.

... not yelling and screaming like all those people on the bus he was driving.
