Police are responding to reports that a van has hit a number of pedestrians on London Bridge in central London.
Witnesses have said that armed officers are understood to be at the scene after a white van mounted the pavement before driving into people.
The Metropolitan Police say they are dealing with an incident on the bridge.
Transport for London said the bridge has been closed in both directions due to a "major police incident". Bus routes were being diverted.
BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at the time of the incident, said the van was driven by a man and was "probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour".
About five people were being treated for injuries after the vehicle mounted the pavement and hit them, she said.
She said the van, which was travelling from the direction of central London, headed towards the south side of the river.
Ms Jones later reported seeing a man being arrested by police. She said he was handcuffed and had his shirt off.

Event started with van hitting people on London bridge at 22.08 last evening London time, can continued to a market 5 minutes away, 3 men then left vehicle at a nearby market and attacked people with knives.
Armed response killed all 3 within 8 minutes of the initial reports of an attack.
Attackers had vest on, which were hoax suicide vests.

6 public dead, 30 injured, 3 terrorists dead.
Good response from the security forces on the scene.

Guy Running From Terror With Beer In Hand Becomes Symbol Of London’s Spirit

In the wake of the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attacks in the English capital last night, one man has become a symbol of resilience.

As Londoners rallied around and offered shelter to those stranded, one man joined the masses of panic-stricken civilians and rushed away from the scene of terror… but God forbid he’d spill his beer.

With his no doubt over-priced pint in hand, he walked away from danger and people are praising him for his cool, calm response in the face of terror and his refusal to be cowed by fear.
