The Mayweather vs. McGregor megafight that has been rumored for months is officially on.

Undefeated welterweight boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come out of retirement to face UFC superstar Conor McGregor on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather, regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time, opened as a huge favorite to beat McGregor in the boxing match.

Mayweather last fought on Sept. 12, 2015, with a win over Andre Berto to push his record to 49-0 and retain his welterweight championship. McGregor is 21-3 as an MMA fighter and has won UFC championships at 145 and 155 pounds. Mayweather and McGregor will fight at 154 pounds, according to UFC President Dana White.

How do the two match up? Here is everything you need to know about the Mayweather vs. McGregor megafight.

When, where is the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight?

Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Aug. 26.

How to watch Mayweather-McGregor fight, PPV price

Mayweather vs. McGregor will be available on Showtime boxing pay-per-view with live streaming available for various devices. Prices were not available at the time of publishing.

Mayweather vs. McGregor odds

The opening moneyline tabbed Mayweather as a huge favorite at -2,250 with McGregor at +950. It quickly dipped to -1,100 for Mayweather and +700 and the early wagers had the line down to -800 for Mayweather and +500 for McGregor. What does that mean? For the laymen, it means that a $100 bet on McGregor would win $500 plus the original wager back if he were to win. But in order to win $100 with a Mayweather victory, someone would have to place a wager of $800.

Mayweather vs. McGregor purse

UFC president Dana White previously stated Mayweather could pocket around $100 million for the fight, with McGregor hauling in around $75 million. That would be a record payday for McGregor. The pay-per-view is expected to gross around $475 million.

Those boxers include Badou Jack with WBA world light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly as a possible opponent. IBF super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis could also defend his belt.

Love Conor, but I think Mayweather is gonna school him pretty good.

If Mayweather has one weakness it's that he doesn't do well against southpaws (which McGregor is) and McGregor can HIT. Is it a mismatch on paper? Sure, but don't count him out, like I said before, it only takes one good punch.

Not to mention there's a 12 year age difference and Mayweather has been out of the ring for awhile.

I hear what you're saying but McGregor will have on giant ass puffy gloves. Wont be near the effect of his previous 30 second fights. This is 10-12 minutes per round. IMO

Steve Collins believes it is foolish to write off the chances of Conor McGregor

CONOR MCGREGOR can shock the world and BEAT Floyd Mayweather, according to former WBO middleweight world champ Steve Collins.

Bookies have been quick to rank The Notorious as a big outsider for the epic battle between two global sporting megastars.

But Collins insists his fellow Irishman can not be written off and “has the ability to pull it off”.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on TalkSport, Collins said: “Who is to say he can’t win?

“The guy is an absolute natural athlete.

“He has got so much ability and with the right coaching and the right fight plan, he could surprise and shock the whole world. Never write him off.

“He is in with a guy who has got two arms, two feet and in a ring. Mayweather is great, he moves well, he has got grace, he skips and avoid punches and so on, but he is still a human being.

“Are you telling me that if Mayweather gets hit on the chin at the right time that he won’t go over?

“It is not a foregone conclusion. With the right planning, the right game plan, he could surprise and shock the world.

“He definitely has the ability to pull it off.”

And SunSport reported earlier today how Collins isn’t the only one tipping McGregor – Sylvester Stallone also thinks he can do it too.

Hollywood actor Stallone turned Rocky into one of the silver screen’s most iconic characters as he upset the odds to climb to the top of the boxing world.

And Stallone says the Las Vegas fight provides the opportunity for the Irishman to shock the world in the way Rocky did in his epic victory over Apollo Creed in the original film.

Stallone, 70, said: “I always have the underdog. He’s a real life Rocky.

“But then again I live in fantasy.

“It’s never been done before, so you never know.”

Round 4 :)

Mayweather has a great chin though, i've watched guys like Sugar Shane, Oscar DLH and Maidana land their best punches clean on Floyd to no effect......... and with the big gloves on we don't really know if McGregor really does have the power to trouble Floyd. Conor's only hope is to KO Floyd (not like he's gonna outbox the greatest technician of all time) but i just can't see that happening. I'd love to see Mayweather lose as he's a female-beating, arrogant cunt of a man....... but he just won't lose.

Not to mention there's a 12 year age difference and Mayweather has been out of the ring for awhile.

He's had lengthy breaks before and came back as good as ever. Sure, age catches up with everyone eventually and i could see his footwork had slowed in his last few fights........ but he's still far too good - world class boxers can't beat him so i don't see how a complete novice boxer can possibly win.

I'm rooting for Conor but I think he's out of his league given it's boxing rules. Mayweather is probably the greatest boxer of his generation.

Rogan was talking about what Conor has going for him: longer reach, fighting more at his weight than Mayweathers, southpaw... still though, if Mayweather takes this fight seriously I think he'll destroy.

Nah, just been an avid follower of the sport since i was a kid, back to the days of Big Frank, Tyson, Prince Naseem etc. Used to have sleepovers to watch the big fights on PPV with a bunch of mates when we were kids :) Did Ju-Jitsu for a couple of years when i was 12 or 13 but that was it.

Sadly, boxing has been going downhill for decades. When I was a kid, you could watch heavyweight title fights on regular TV on a Saturday afternoon. And champs fought as often as they could get into the ring against another opponent. Now, everything is all PPV and you're lucky if you see a big name title fight once a year. Plus, there's very little up and coming talent anymore compared to what there used to be, especially in the heavyweight division.

Floyd Mayweather spent 4 hours in an L.A. gym training for Conor McGregor -- repeating a mantra to himself during the workout, "You name him. I beat him."

The Best Ever hit up Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys with the TMT crew and NBA star, DeMar DeRozan -- and busted his ass in preparation for the August 26 fight.

Mayweather was talking to himself during the session saying, "I be trying to tell ya'll ... I can get a black eye, a bloody nose. I can have a bad day in the gym. At the end of the day, I don't have a bad payday and I don't have a bad night under the lights."

He added, "I get bumps, bruises ... but I don't have a bad night."

Floyd's famous for his grueling workouts -- and this one was no exception.
