BUILT structures, including a giant pyramid and dome structure have been found on Mars, according to alien hunters who are convinced there was once a thriving civilisation on the Red Planet.
The structures have allegedly been found by zooming in on the Google Mars online mapping system which charts the planet's surface using satellite and space probe imagery.
Conspiracy theorist YouTube channel ArtAlienTV has made the staggering claims after finding the large “anomalies” on the Google site.
In a video released by the channel, which makes the claims, it first zooms in on a circular shape surrounded by a larger and darker circle.
Then, when the camera zooms out, a pyramid-like object appears to the bottom right of the dome.
In a promotional blurb for the video, the channel wrote: “We have a clear 50-foot dome or sphere in a Mars Crater with large pipes coming out of it on the left.
“Also a triangular pyramid-shaped structure about 500 feet away from it that is 120ft wide.”
It said both structures "look artificial in nature and are clearly visible on Google Mars with no adjustments".
There are a host of conspiracy theories arguing Mars once supported an advanced alien civilisation which built structures like here on Earth such as the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Some of these theories, which have never put forward any convincing evidence to back them up, claim life was wiped out by an inter galactic nuclear war.
But viewers have been left asking questions about the latest images.
One online poster said: “Intriguing…very odd and deserving of closer inspection by the Rover or a satellite."
Another suggested: “Looks like an amphitheatre of sorts, flat surface on which the orb is resting with a curved wall behind it.”
However, more sceptical people suggest it is simply an optical illusion - the results of pareidolia, which is a phenomenon when the brain tricks they eyes into seeing familiar objects or shapes in textures or patterns such as rock surfaces or clouds.
One poster said simply: "Call the pareidolia police!"
