An 18-year-old California woman was sentenced to 13 years for managing a short-lived prostitution ring with girls even younger than her.

Jelinajane Bedrijo Almario was arrested in May 2016 for pimping out four teens — ages 14 and 15 — in Hanford, a city roughly 35 miles south of Fresno.

Almario, then-16, was charged with human trafficking, threatening the relative of one girl and making terror threats, according to the Fresno Bee.

She was tried as an adult and hit with the 13-year sentence in state court on Monday, two days after she turned 18, the newspaper reported.

Almario’s plot lasted just a few weeks last spring, Hanford Police detective Richard Pontecorvo told the Fresno Bee.

She would recruit the girls through social media, friends and acquaintances.

“These girls would run away for weekends or work a couple of nights,” Pontecorvo told the newspaper.

Almario would post pictures on prostitution websites, and bring them to various motels near a highway in Tulare County, according to the newspaper.

The mother of one girl reached out to Almario when she couldn’t locate her daughter, the Fresno Bee reported. Almario texted threatening notes back to the concerned parent.

The plot unraveled from there.

“We were able to get these girls back home and get them the help they needed,” Pontecorvo told the Fresno Bee. “But these pimps are ruining these kids’ lives at an early age.”

Pontecorvo said the case was particularly shocking for Hanford cops because Almario was running the prostitution ring at such a young age.

“It was a huge eye-opener for us,” he told the Fresno Bee. “But we caught her case very early, so we were able to pull those girls out of that.”
