Elizabeth Johnston, a self-identified Christian who runs a blog called The Activist Mommy, told Pat Robertson's CBN News on July 16 that Teen Vogue should be prosecuted for obscenity because of an article about anal sex (video below).
A CBN News host introduced the segment by referring to anal sex as a "perverse sexual activity," and then interviewed Johnston about the Teen Vogue article.
Johnston made a Facebook video on July 13 in which she condemned Teen Vogue for the educational graphic article, burned an issue of the magazine and called for a boycott.
During her interview with CBN News, Johnston praised a Kroger grocery store manager who allegedly destroyed nine issues of the magazine. According to Johnston, the manager said he planned to lie to his company and say the magazines were stolen.
Johnston also attacked the author of the Teen Vogue article, Gigi Engle. Johnston argued that Engle was not qualified to write about sex:
First of all, Gigi, who is giving this dangerous information about anal sex, which is a very dangerous type of sexual activity, she's not even a certified sex therapist, an educated sex counselor, nothing like that. She’s a journalist. And she’s giving 12-year-olds extremely dangerous information. She’s not a medical doctor. She is a journalist. This is so reckless what Teen Vogue has printed.

Johnston, who homeschools her 10 children, did not specify what she meant by "extremely dangerous information."
Engle's website says that she is "a writer, sex educator, speaker and feminist activist," and adds: "As a sex educator, she teaches a variety of classes centered around pleasure, sexual health, and confidence."
Johnston also expressed her displeasure that Teen Vogue's digital media producer is gay:
Why is a magazine, that the target audience is teen girls, why in the world is the digital editor a homosexual man? And they have come under enough fire from Operation Pull Teen Vogue that he and Gigi have been responding via Twitter to the situation, and he has posted some pretty foul stuff and personal testimony, Phillip Picardi, of his homosexual activity and why he is passionate about sharing this terrible information with the youth of America.
Johnston also told CBN News that Teen Vogue violated the U.S. Federal Child Exploitation And Obscenity Laws, which "prohibits any individual from knowingly transferring or attempting to transfer obscene matter using the U.S. mail or any means or facility of interstate or foreign commerce to a minor under 16 years of age. Convicted offenders face fines and imprisonment for up to 10 years."
Johnston asked people to call the Department of Justice "and explain that Teen Vogue is pandering obscenity to minors."
Under federal law, there are multiple conditions that must be met for a piece of media to be considered obscene, including "whether a reasonable person finds that the matter, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value." Sex education normally falls under "scientific."
Johnston also said that Teen Vogue was promoting pedophilia with an article from May, which was about toddlers giving consent:
Wait a minute. Toddlers can't consent. With the legal definition, minors can't consent until they’re 16 to 18 years old. A person cannot consent until they're at least 16 years old, depending where you live in the United States.
And so what in the world, what kind of message is Teen Vogue trying to get out by saying that a toddler can consent? When a toddler says "yes" it always means "no" in the legal definition of what consent means as in "consenting to sexual activity."
This is outrageous. It appears that Teen Vogue is trying to prepare American youth for the practice of pedophilia.
