A 42-year-old woman in northern Pennsylvania is accused of shooting her 32-year-old boyfriend dead-center in the forehead on Saturday morning and then calling 911 to report the shooting - as if the matter were routine.

Now, police in Monroe County are saying the victim, Steven Mineo of Coolbaugh Township, reportedly asked his girlfriend to shoot and kill him because he was a member of an online death cult, both WFMZ and WNEP are reporting.

Still, the alleged shooter, Barbara Rogers, 42, remains jailed in Monroe County, charged with criminal homicide. She's being held without bail.

But her story about the death cult could become a factor in the case.

From WNEP:

Stephen Mineo flew a flag with the Roman numeral two outside his residence near Tobyhanna, an outward sign of his unusual beliefs.

On Facebook, he posted about conspiracies, doomsday preparations, and getting right with God.

Police in Monroe County believe Mineo's online activities may have played a role in his death.

And WFMZ reports this about the bizarre death cult motive in the case:

"She identified that the deceased was having online issues with a cult and he wanted to be killed and requested she do it," said Lt. Steven Williams with Pocono Mountain Regional Police.

But was Mineo attempting to get out of the cult? WNEP quotes some of his friends as saying so:

Friends say Mineo had spoken of getting involved in an online cult and wanting to break away, after finding it didn't fit his beliefs.

"They dropped them, because they were too far out, instead of being religious, it was just a cult thing, they got rid of that," said Kevin Wade.

But that break may have not been clean. Rogers told police that problems with the group lead Mineo to want to die.

The investigation continues.

Well, if you meet her in a bar, don't order a beer and a shot.
