An Australian family got a fright when they spotted a huntsman spider lurking outside their door.
Lauren Ansell and her family, from Queensland, weren’t exactly in a hurry to leave the house when they spotted the arachnid in the way.

“It’s massive and it was mean, but it’s alive and we didn't want to kill it,” Ms Ansell told Daily Mail Australia.
She added that unfortunately her unlucky partner was on the other side of the glass door trying to prepare a meal.

“My partner was on the outside trying to cook our food,” she told the website.
“We didn't want to kill it, but it didn’t like us for trying to move it along.
“It’s still alive and happy. I nicknamed it Aragog. It’s in the garden and we haven’t seen it since.”
The Australian Museum explains: “Huntsman spiders are large, long-legged spiders. They are mostly grey to brown, sometimes with banded legs.
“Huntsman spiders of many species sometimes enter houses. They are also notorious for entering cars, and being found hiding behind sun visors or running across the dashboard.
“They are famed as being the hairy so-called 'tarantulas' on house walls that terrify people by scuttling out from behind curtains.”
