This ones a 6.5 Grendel. I'd been looking and wanting to do one for several years and finally decided on this CBC Industries 18" upper (http://https://www.cbcindustries.com/collections/upper-assemblies/products/ar-15-upper-assembly-18-6-5-grendel-1-8-15-hera-keymod-unmarked-handguard-rail-with-bcg-chh). When I received it a couple weeks ago my first impressions were very positive. Build quality looked nice, Hera arms hand guard was slim and comfortable, and weight was light and well balanced.
I swiped a lower from another build, took a scope from another and fired a few rounds. Adjusted windage 3 clicks and it was dead on.
This was definitely going to require some select shopping to become my new carry hunting rifle.
I knew I wanted a fixed stock and wanted light so the SIG Carbon Fiber (http://https://www.cdnnsports.com/ar15-a1-carbon-fiber-stock-sig-sauer.html#.WX_MhbgcomU) seemed a shoe in along with the ERGO deluxe tactical grip (http://https://www.cdnnsports.com/ar15-pistol-grip-tactical-deluxe-ergo-black.html#.WX_M6bgcomU). The grip has the thickness of a target grip without the weight.
The lower was harder to locate. I've been wanting to try a billet using 6061 aluminum instead of 7075 and ran across Unique Firearms Solutions (https://www.uniquefirearmsolutions.com/billet-80-lower-receiver-anodized-p/ufs_lower_black.htm).
The lower finally arrived today. It does have some unique styling that I like but looked like could interfere with my jig. I was right. But after a little measuring and 10 minutes of dremel work on the jig it now fits perfectly.
This picture shows a dry fit of parts, I'll start milling it out tomorrow.

I'll use it for deer hunting. Other than looks, it's no different than any other semi-auto that people have used for hunting for over a century.

Things a beaut! Happy shooting.

Do you have chital/axis deer where you are? Just listened to someone raving about how good the meat is and now I'm really wanting to try it. Apparently they're insanely quick and a good challenge to hunt too.

Just whitetail deer around here. I could go further north in state to hunt elk ( if lucky enough to draw a tag) but have never had any desire to hunt one of those.
I would like to go west and hunt some mule deer though.
Antelopes are another I'd like to attempt stalking. I've heard they know you are there long before you see them.

Ya, Antelopes look a lot like axis deer. The guy I was listening to said it was like they could hear his arrows coming and were 15 feet away by the time it got where he was aiming
